NEGATIVITY VS. POSITIVITY-A CHOICE
PART 3: Will—The Overlooked Ingredient To Staying True To Your Commitment To Bring More Positivity Into Your Life

Commitment is a very powerful force in the universe, but to be fully empowered, commitment needs its “buddy”, Will. Will, is defined in Webster’s New World Dictionary as “the power of conscious and deliberate action or choice.”
As many of you may have noticed, following through on a commitment, especially if it is on your own behalf, is often easier said than done. You often become distracted by all kinds of negative patterns that encourage you to break your commitment to yourself. Our egos are not especially thrilled at the prospect of positive change. They tend to be very attached to the old negativity and resist your efforts on many fronts. In the end, you become discouraged and lose faith in yourself as you renege on your commitment to create a positive life experience. What is needed to counteract this phenomenon is to use your will to take a stand for choices that continuously honor your commitment to positivity and to thoughts and actions that foster a happy and fulfilling life. Whenever you waver in your commitment you must use your will to recommit over and over again, as often as it takes to fulfill your commitment to yourself.
Even in implementing your will, however, there is a choice that affects how you experience your life. It is common to think of our will as if it is a force to be reckoned with, wrestled with and pushed into action toward a desired outcome. From this perspective, keeping your commitment to act and behave in a way that produces a fulfilling life can be full of struggle and pain—something that is counterproductive to the whole intent.
There is another choice. You can choose to take a stand from a much more elegant and subtle perspective. From this point of view, you allow the strength of your will to emanate from the center of your true, essential Self. Sourced from the pure truth of your Self, will becomes a gentle, yet powerful force that supports your commitment to a self-fulfilled life. The essential Self is so inherently aligned with truth and love that you may even experience yourself easily and effortlessly releasing a lifetime of negative patterning when you operate from this perspective. At the very least, it will be much easier to continuously do what it takes to keep your commitment to having a positive experience of your life.
Those of you who have created your Statement of Essence, or Life Purpose Statement (as is was originally called) with me have had an experience of touching the essence of who you are. For those of you who have not had this experience it may be helpful to think in terms of the soul of who you are, or the energy of who you are at the most elemental level.
TRY THIS
Use this meditation on a daily basis to form an imprint of the experience of will emanating from the center of who you are. In the context of this newsletter, essence-centered will is a stance, an attitude that engenders deliberate action that supports your continuous commitment to bring more positivity into your life.
POINT OF STILLNESS MEDITATION
Settle into the quiet. Be with your breath, allowing breath to find it’s own natural, steady, even rhythm. All of awareness and attention focused on your breath-there’s nothing but your breath. You may even want to focus on the tip of your nose-feeling the air pass through your nose-nothing but the breath. As you inhale, allow the floor of your current layer of awareness to open, and as you exhale, float down to the next quieter level. As you inhale the floor opens once again, and as you exhale you float down to the next deeper, quieter level.
You may experience inner distraction, mental chatter, or noises around you. It’s all right. Just take another breath and float beneath them. Feelings and emotions may come to the surface. It’s all right- take another breath and float beneath them -– nothing but the breath.
As you inhale, allow the floor of your current layer of awareness to open, and as you exhale, float down to the next quieter level. As you inhale the floor opens once again, and as you exhale you float down to though next deeper, quieter level. You may feel as though you are passing through many layers of consciousness and awareness. It’s all right.
Take another breath and float deeper. You are on your way to your point of stillness-that place where your soul lives. It is here in this place, deep in your point of stillness-deep in the experience of your most essential Self -that you touch all of creation.
It’s here that you are one with all the wisdom that has ever been, is now, and will ever be. As you reach your point of stillness, find a comfortable place and rest there. Just allow yourself to be held in the amazing arms of the greater consciousness. Allow yourself to be fed and nurtured from this incredible stillness and peace- and as you rest deep in your soul and your point of stillness, ask for an experience of your will, fully aligned with the essence of who you are.
Don’t think about it. Just let yourself experience this power within you to take conscious and deliberate action fully aligned with your soul. Experience your will in whatever way it comes to you – a feeling, a thought, a picture, or possibly just a sensing. Don’t judge or reject it. Take whatever shows up. Don’t hurry.
Let yourself fully experience what it is like to be in the presence of your will that is in service to the very essence of your being. Know that you can choose to call forth this experience of your will at any time, and use it to take a stand for the commitment you made to “re-mind” your brain into solid habits of living from a positive, peaceful perspective.
Living from soul is about living on many levels of consciousness at once. So now, from deep in your point of stillness, open your eyes and come back to now, being on at least two levels of awareness…
